Promising power pop with exuberant hooks and lyrics, Back Flipping Forward will no doubt expand the audience of Boston- based singer-songwriter Will Dailey. Dailey skillfully merges influences such as Rod Stewart and Tom Waits with results that are unique and surprising. Dailey made inroads with his earlier debut, Goodbye Red Bullet, but clearly, Back Flipping Forward, his debut on the newly launched CBS Records (part of the CBS TV network) will be the one to cement his glowing reputation. The CD bobs and weaves through some deja vu pop moves and with some great sidemen, Dailey achieves an interesting studio sound. Track two, “Grand Opening” would put a smile on McCartney’s face.
