On
Cream's Disraeli Gears album back in 1967, Eric Clapton wrote
a song with
Martin Sharp called
Tales Of Brave Ulysses. An Australian who co-founded the
Oz, Sharp was amazingly, also directly involved with Tin Pan Alley
and cult hero, singer-songwriter Tiny Tim, the late fabled singer
with whom he later went on to co-produce a series of albums and sessions
for during '79/80 and the early 90s. Released on CD for the
first time in 2007 by the Japan-based Zero Communications, Chameleon,
(1979-80) Wonderful World Of Romance For Tiny Tim
Fans Only (1979) and Stardust (mostly '93 /
'95) covers an amazing range of rarely heard Tiny Tim classics. Tiny,
who passed away November 30 1996, was often recalled for his famous
1968 hit cover of Tip-toe Thru The Tulips With Me.
From the candid piano vignettes on Wonderful World Of Romance
to more full scale studio productions on Chameleon and the
eclectic collection of Stardust, each CD presents an excellent
chance to rediscover a true icon of American music. Each CD features
excellent artwork, liner notes by Martin Sharp and a wealth of additional
discography info. www17.plala.or.jp/zero_comm/tiny.html
