Back in the late ‘90s, Ohio-based guitarist Mark Dwane was exploring the sonic universe of spacy New Age electronica. An excellent guitarist and musical conceptualist, Dwane is expert at combining the spatial atmospherics of Euro adventurists like Edgar Froese, but he combines it with a definite American edge combining New Age vibes within the realm of an imaginary soundtrack. Dwane’s ninth instrumental album, 2012 is based on Mayan lore and is filled with Dwane’s skyscraper melodies and ambient atmospherics. A self-contained instrumental rock orchestra, Dwane uses some amazing gear and in addition to the multitude of electronic processors, Dwane performs admirably on his Ibanez, Parker Fly, PRS electric and Martin and Taylor acoustic guitars. www.markdwane.com
