Shaken...Not Stirred

Founding member of America’s great country rock group Alabama, guitarist / singer-songwriter Jeff Cook returns to the music world with the 2010 CD release of Shaken...Not Stirred from Jeff Cook & The AGB. After 21 gold albums with Alabama, Cook sounds like a seasoned pop pro here and he’s not afraid to bring out his song writing chops and his musical inspirations. The covers here are a real hoot with key highlights being a very cool cover of the 1964 Dave Clark 5 classic “Because”, a take of the Paul McCartney penned Beatles classic “She’s A Woman”, Jackie Wilson’s Berry Gordy penned “Lonely Teardrops” and a lightning round of oldies classics bookended together on the CD closing “ABG Medley” that segues around the best of Chuck Berry, The Big Bopper, Little Richard, Buddy Knox and more, although the coolest cut here is a virtuous CD lead off tribute to Willie Nelson called “Waitin’ For Willie To Sing”. The CD features Cook’s solid electric guitar and vocals, all backed up in style by the eight piece Allstar Goodtime Band. With Alabama leaving the road in 2004, long time fans can once again rejoice upon hearing Cook’s rocking “funtry” sound.
