PHILIP CATHERINE
Guitars Two
(Dreyfus)

Over the course of his career, London-born, Belgian-based jazz fusion guitarist Philip Catherine has recorded numerous solo albums as well as recording with jazz icons such as Larry Coryell, Charlie Mingus and Toots Thielmans. He also replaced Jan Akkerman during a brief stint with Dutch fusion kings Focus. On his 2008 solo CD on Dreyfus, Guitars Two, Catherine captivates with just his acoustic guitar. The results make for an intimate sounding, solo instrumental recording featuring Catherine surrounded by his acoustic and electric guitars and pedal rack. Catherine’s superbly recorded Guitars Two features a number of Catherine originals along with several covers of Stephane Grappelli and and MJQ mastermind John Lewis. www.philipcatherine.com
