LILI HAYDN
Place Between Places
(Nettwerk)

Her single, “Strawberry Street” is one of the coolest pop tracks of 2008. In fact every track on the third CD from Lili Haydn has something to offer. Taking a cue from the Kate Bush school of progressive rock with neoclassical leanings, Place Between Places features top singing, arranging and recording. The L.A. based Haydn shines on vocals and her violin playing sounds definitely accomplished. Haydn’s entire band, including guitarist Woody Aplanalp, sounds totally in sync with her unique musical vision. It’s amazing how Haydn brings so much variety to her repertoire—from the retro pop of “Strawberry Street” to the orchestral edges that soar all around these excellent tracks. www.lilihaydn.com
