As
he proved way back in 1975 when he took a break from Yes and recorded
the instantly classic Olias Of Sunhillow, singer-songwriter
Jon Anderson is no slouch in the studio. Since then, Andersons
been the most prolific player in the Yes group and in 2008 U.K. based
Voiceprint released a number of rare and live music from Andersons
archives. Album number five in Andersons coming 20 part series
and future box set, The Lost Tapes, the fifteen track Watching
The Flags That Fly is a good example of Andersons prolific
muse in action. Basically songs that never got recorded, the collection
features songs that Anderson wrote and recorded in the south of France
in 1990 while waiting to record the second ABWH album. Andersons
genius comes out at various times on these self-recorded demo tracks
that feature a wide range of his appealing multi-track rock orchestrations.
Released by Voiceprint and handled Stateside by Music Video Distributors,
The Lost Tapes also features a number of 2007 CD releases including
Jon Anderson With The New Life Band Live In Sheffield 1980 (double
CD set featuring a 9 piece band performing Yes classics in December
1980), The Mothers Day Concert (15 tracks, live from
May 1996) and Searching For The Songs (14 studio demo tracks
from the 1986 era of Anderson Bruford Wakeman & Howe). Not part
of the Lost Tapes series, Andersons comparatively recent
double CD set Jon Anderson Live From La-La Land features 20
tracks of Yes covers and assorted originals recorded in 2004 at the
Roxy in L.A. and released on Andersons Opio label through Voiceprint
in 2006. Commenting on his unique one man band sound on La La Land,
Jon adds, To me, doing the one-man-show is like a balancing
act. I use a MIDI guitar and I play and sing at the piano. www.jonanderson.com
